Participants will receive £50 per month (for 4 months) to spend on transport services bookable through Breeze. Every month a Participant will receive, by email and text, a voucher code that is simply added to the Breeze app, a travel app for planning, booking and paying for transport services across the Solent area. You can use the credit to purchase tickets for yourself, or for people who are travelling with you on that journey.
Services available inside the free Breeze app include local bus services, trains (across a large proportion of the south coast), rental e-scooters and rental e-bikes, and ferry and hovercraft services. Learn more about the Breeze app here.
As well as the application criteria set out below, Participants for this trial must also live on Abbotts Way, Belmont Road, Brookvale Road, Russell Place or Westridge Road.
When applying, Participants need to agree to completing an application survey, an online survey at the end of the trial, and a final survey two months after the trial has ended, so that we can understand the impact of Mobility Credits on the use and perceptions of public transport.
As part of the Portswood Project, Southampton City Council is working with Solent Transport to offer residents living in the Active Travel Zone (ATZ) receive Mobility Credit. We hope this will enable residents to test different transport modes to travel around the local area while the part-time bus/taxi/cycle-only section of Portswood Road is trialled. The Mobility Credit trial forms part of the Solent Future Transport Zone (FTZ) programme, funded by the Department for ort, which is being delivered by Solent Transport in partnership with local authorities.
There can be one applicant per household. To apply to Participate you will need to:
Be aged 18 years or older at the point of application
Own a smartphone
Have a debit/credit card registered in your name
Download, and register for an account, with Breeze
Agree to complete three different surveys as part of the trial
Live on Abbotts Way, Belmont Road, Brookvale Road, Russell Place or Westridge Road
